Is my car safe to drive to the mechanic? I noticed a leak under my car (a 2000 Lincoln Mercury Sable) and I found out that it's the power steering fluid leaking. My question is, do I need to have the vehicle towed to the mechanic or can I drive it there.? He's about 15 minutes away and I think there's about 7 turns. Any help would be appreciated.

I saw it done in Turner and Hooch and that dog looked ok afterwards, but I know that is hollywood too. If not do you have any suggestions? Thanks

A belt snapped on my car, is it safe to drive it to the repair shop? My car has been squealing when I first start it up and so I just got some belts and pulleys replaced. Also, the air condtioning has been working on and off for the past few weeks. I got the freon filled and it worked for a few hours perfectly and now not at all. Plus, two days after the air totally stopped working, there was a squeling noise and the power steering went out. I popped the hood and there was a broken belt (about 1/2 an inch thick). Does anyone know what could be wrong with my AC, and also, most importantly is it safe to drive it to a repair shop with a missing belt?

Is it safe to drive car with 5.3 quart capacity with 3.5 quarts? I overfilled my engine oil and in an attempt to remove some accidently removed to much. After driving 20 miles I checked the dipstick and it was exactly on the low mark. I added approximately 1 quart to bring it close to the full mark. The manual states that it takes 1.6 quarts to go from low to full. I kept the RPM'S under 2,500 for the whole drive. No lights went on, temp normal, no abnormal noises. Did I have enough oil to circulate properly? The truck is brand new and is my baby, any expert advise will be greatly appreciated.

Is it safe for me to drive my car if my motor oil is empty? I just checked my car's motor oil after i got the car painted a week ago, and i was shocked that the motor oil i just filled a month ago was empty. Ran over a boulder in my car...safe to drive on highway? I was making a turn past a construction site and there were about 3 cars in front of me. Everyone made wide turns except for the guy in front of me. He started to make a sharp turn (while I was making a wide one) but I guess he realized there was a boulder in the street. He dodges it quickly but his back tire hit it and it rolled into my path. (too late for me to stop) I run over it (not with the tires, it went right under the car) it's so big that it lifts my car up from the ground. I had to keep driving but the next time I pressed the gas it made this noise like dropping a spring. I was too scared to get on the highway after that so I just took the back roads. It didn't give me any problems or make any more noises after that. It's only a 4 month old car, so I'm still under warranty if anything is wrong; what should I do?
When I turn my car on, the temperature gauge immediately moves to hot. Is it safe to drive? I have a 1998 Ford Contour with 70,000 miles. Last night I discovered that the temperature gauge was all the way on red. Having just arrived home, I immediately parked the car, and let it sit overnight in 55 degree Fahrenheit weather. This morning, I turned the key just partway, and the temperature gauge immediately went to hot (actually past red, all the way to the right). The engine was obviously cold having sat all night. Water pump was replaced in January 2007. Air conditioning stopped working in September 2006, and has been to the mechanic for attempted fixes in January 2007 and May 2007. A/C seemed to work for a couple weeks after the May attempt, but is now not working again. I'm calling the mechanic on Monday morning to schedule service, but logistically would like to drive the car to/from work through this Friday (20 miles roundtrip). Is this risking overheating, or do these symptoms just sound like an incorrect temperature reading? Thanks.
Is is safer to drive my car to work/class or take the "el" train? I just got hired to work in downtown Chicago and would like to know if it is safer to drive to work or take the "el". I'll be working from 8am til 5pm M-F and may hang around downtown a little bit (i.e. shop or grab something for dinner ) on some days and possibly take some night classes twice a week. I will be living with a roommate on the southside of Chicago. Thanks!
