Can my employer require me to report miles driven for business as company car expense if I own and insure it?
As of the first of the year, I lost my car allowance benefit. I own and insure my car. The company is now telling me that I must report my miles driven for business purposes under the company car expense reimbursement policy. Is this legal and what are my tax and insurance ramifications?

- If they pay you mileage expenses for business use then yes, they can and should require you to keep a trip/mileage recode of your business related car mil age.
- why wouldnt you want them to reimburse you for some gas money? especially used for business trips?
- No that is not legal for them to claim sence it is your car.But you, may claim it.Considering you bought the car and you pay for the insurance. If they claim it they get the tax benefits instead of you.Its your job, your car, your insurance,.And if you pay for toll's you get tax break's for that too.As long as you have receipts for all those things. The way it looks to me is that they want the tax breaks for your hard earned money .
