Public Comments

  1. Corsa - below a 1.4 Fiesta - below a 1.4 Clio - below a 1.4 Punto - below a 1.4
  2. Oh dear that will be expensive. She will be looking at at least a grand for to insure a Ford ka (Third party only). And so it should be. You can not actually drive a car when you have just passed your driving test. Insurance companies Know this.
  3. Something small old and at least 3rd hand (preferably bought for under £500. Finding cheap insurance for young people is ridiculously hard.
  4. A hand-me down from parents or relatives is cheapest, Discuss this with your insurance company first.
  5. if you want cheep car insurance get a small car like a ford , suzuki or a vauxhall corsa .
  6. The cheapest cars to insure are the ones with the smallest engines. The Toyota Aygo has only a 1000 cc engine, and there are many other makes of car with this size of engine. They aren't very fast but will still easily keep up with traffic. Ideal for a learner
  7. look at low CC british cars. the Corsa, Mini, something like that. be prepared to shop around for the best quote.
  8. I would probably thing something like a Clio or any small car with an engine size of 1.0L or 1.1L. Cheaper road tax too.
  9. It is true that small engines offer the cheapest insurance, however it depends more on what car you want to buy for your daughter. Telling us this would have helped.... In as much as smaller cars are less protective of the passengers inside. So you need to take into account the safety ratings of the cars as well as the costs involved. It is naive to buy a low rating car just because the insurance is cheap. What price your daughters safety. You can get cars from main dealers which are inclusive of the first years insurance completely free. So this may be a safer way to go, subject to what you are prepared to pay for the vehicle. As parents who have two sons, who both drive, we have found that the more we spent on there first car, the more it was looked after and therefore driven more carefully. We also put them both on our vehicle insurances, during there periods of non car ownership and this built them a NCB which was later transferred to there own vehicles. Fundamentally a lot to look at but you will find it better in the long run to look around, check out the best deals with various offers thrown in at main dealers and find a good well reccomended 'broker' to source insurance if you can't afford the New route.
  10. We bought my son a renault clio 1.2 (r reg) when he was learning about 3 months ago. It was insured fully comp with a provisional licence for £580 with Quinn insurance, they were by far the cheapest insurance company. Go on moneysupermarket.com that's where we found them.
  11. Tell your daughter to ask her instructor if he uses 'click the pepper' which is an organisation to help youngsters with their insurance. It might also be worth having your daughter on your insurance policy for the first year and then seeing how much cheaper it is to insure her first car with a yrs experience. Older cars aren't necessarily cheaper to insure than new cars, insurers think you are less likely to be careful in an old car, that's what I've been told anyhow. And also see if it's worth her taking the pass plus, some companies offer a discount for it, but you have to work out if the cost of the pass plus offsets the saving on insurance.
  12. How about a Nissan Micra (998cc). Small engine, fantastic on petrol, you can usually pick one up cheap enough, and the insurance shouldn't be too bad I think if it were 3rd party. I would use one of the insurance comparing websites, like moneysupermarket.com or confused.com. Good luck.
  13. The lowest priemium will still cost £1700. pounds
  14. As a father of four kids my advice is to forget the cheapest car and look for the safest car you can afford. I had all my kids take their driver's license in a full size 1979 Pontiac Bonneville Safari station wagon. It was the safest vehicle on the highway at that time. I would prefer automobile bills over medical or funeral bills any day.
  15. camry? honda civic? mini? but cheap and easy to insure is most important and wen ur 17 it dusnt reeli matter....
  16. SOMETHING BIG WITH 4-DOORS FROM THE EARLY TO MIDDLE 90'S WOULD BE YOUR BEST BET FOR NOW.
  17. ford escort
  18. Ford Ka
