Best Cars to Insure

Whats the cheapest and best car to drive around?...*used car and why?..?

I drive a '95 Chevy blazer, and I love it. I love big cars, however its a waste of too much gas and I plan* on moving to the Southwest and want a convertible, that is standard, and around $1,000-4,000, but someone said that those are not good. So, in your opinion, what brand and type is?..Please explain, I am very illiterate when it comes to cars and stuff.

  1. a convertible in that price range is only going to get you a late 1970's MG, Triumph or Fiat Spyder. And all those 3 will eat you alive in service. Your other choice is a 80's model cavalier convertible. I myself wouldn't own this car new. Really, there is no convertible that is even a decent car even near that price range. Even a used VW Cabrio with 100k miles will still run almost 10k. Now if you want basic car, cheap, super easy to fix, super great on gas and is another car but masked. Then find one of the last Chevrolet Prisms. This is actually not a Chevy, but a Toyota Corolla badged as a Chevy product. You will pick this up for around $2k less than the identical Corolla, its great on insurance, gets an easy 30mpg (double what you get now) and is a safe, small car. I drive a 2000 Blazer and its my 8th one in a row. I 100,000% understand the gas issue. I hate the $50 fill up and go 280 miles. Since I use mine for work I've been looking at the Mazda5 since its a wagon and sporty and good mpg. Mazda's are good, but if you want bare bone basic economy etc for that $4k, that would be the Prism. Just make sure its the Chevrolet Prism and not the Geo Prism. There is a difference.
  2. Cheapest? Honda Civic... older ones 90-95 get up to 45mpg... parts are cheap, Newer are not as good on gas. Other then that any 4 cyl car would do, also on older cars the insurance is cheaper! I wouldnt go with a conv. simply because of the top haing to be replaced from time to time, security, and leaking.
