- Doesn't matter. Just NEVER test drive a car from the same dealer that you plan to buy it from. And it doesn't matter what you tell the dealer, they want to make a sale so they'll do whatever they can to help. They won't know the difference if you do or do not plan on getting it unless you tell them.
- When you have the cash to pay for it in full. A new car loses 60% of it's value in the first 4 years. Don't add to this loss by also paying interest on that money.
- The best time to test drive is whenever you feel like it, some consumers test drive vehicles for months before purchase. But remember this... car salespeople are highly trained to close the deal on your first visit, if you get hooked up with a real pro you may just leave the dealership having bought a car. Sure you can tell the salesperson your not ready, or just looking - that comment goes in one ear and out the other, I would suggest you do some study how to buy a car before entering a dealership, go to my website http://www.usedcartips.org/ I don't expect you to become an expert over night, but pick up a few pointers will help you get valid value.
- You should test drive whenever you want. Just tell the saleman your not ready to purchase. Remember if you like that car your driving the exact one may not be available a few months later. Driving a vehicle at one dealer and buying from another is not going to save you any money. Let people know you want a good deal and do plenty of research.
