Best Cars to Insure

what is the best speed to drive your car to get maximum gas mileage?

I do lots of country driving and find that if I drive 35-45 mph I save about 1/4 tank on every tank of gas I purchase. (I have an economy car).

  1. below 60.... 45-55 kmph
  2. not sure, but on motorways you should get up to speed as quickly as possible and maintain that speed consistently, when safe to do so, and try not to brake too much, and look ahead so you can anticipate traffic
  3. The best thing to do is to keep a consistant speed. It doesn't matter how fast or slow you are going. I wouldn't go over 80mph.
  4. Right around 50 miles per hour.
  5. speed has nothing to do with it.....engine rpms. the lower the revs are the less gas your using. 55 mph at 7k rpms is going to use more gas than 55 mph at 2k rpms
  6. for me? usually 65-70... but this depends on the make of your car as well as the size engine it has. i've noticed if i drive slower my mileage goes down or if i get higher speeds it will go down. you have to figure in the aerodynamics of your vehicle as well...
