Best Cars to Insure

What is the best 4-wheel car/SUV/truck to drive in the snow?

I am looking for a make and model amongst the commonly marketed vehicles that does the best in the snow.

  1. The best would be any Subaru, and any Audi Quattro. Subaru has lots of experience (and make nothing but AWD these days), and Audi have the most sophisticated system available - and arguable the best as well. Just make sure you stick to a car and not a truck or SUV - the greater the height, the more likely it is to slide - and the more likely it is to rollover. Good luck! Good luck!
  2. Subaru tribeca: http://www.subaru.com/shop/model_consideration.jsp?model=TRIBECA Chevy Silverado: http://chevy.com/silverado Ford Fusion: http://fordvehicles.com/cars/fusion Good Luck
  3. Differing vehicles do better in differing conditions. Heavy deep snow lend themselves towards a true 4wd system. Moderate snow/slush/wet road mixes lend themselves towards AWD systems. No manufacturer makes the 'perfect' vehicle for all conditions or scenerios. If you want a smaller vehicle with AWD, Subaru makes several models that will do exactly what you want. If you need a larger vehicle with more passenger or cargo space. Jeep and Land Rover both make vehicles that will fill your needs.
  4. Vehicle choice is not really that important as the most important thing in driving in the snow is the driver..that said next in importance would be good tires. 4 wheel drive can be beneficial and your situation would probably be best served by any vehicle with a full time four wheel drive setting as well as a true 4 wheel drive setting. Another poster mentioned subarus but while reliable and functional, they do not have sufficient ground clearance to handle deep snow(8-10") if you get that in your area. Jeep cherokees, wranglers,Toyota 4runners,ford explorers, expeditions, chevy tahoes, suburbans, land rovers, etc are all well suited .
  5. Jeep cherokee...shift on the fly and unstoppable in snow. They utilize limited spip differentials in front and back so you don't get that one wheel spin as in other vehicles.
