Best Cars to Insure

are squad cars insured?

I was thinking about that as I was looking for insurance for my car, it's safe to say that insurance companies might not want to cover them.

  1. Of course they are. What if they were involved in an RTA? How would people be able to claim off the force?
  2. Yes. Through the money collected in taxes. No they do not carry insurance like Geico.
  3. Squad cars are self-insured. That means that the city/state sets aside a certain amount of money every year and they pay for their own claims.
  4. If by squad cars, you mean police department vehicle's, than the answer is yes. Most Police Department vehicle's & for that matter, any municipal vehicle are self-insured by the City, Town, Village, or State in which they operate.
  5. I am confused about what exactly you are asking...If you want to know if the actual police cars are insured, the answer is yes. If you are meaning that you bought a retired squad and you would like to insure it, then yes, you can insure those cars with any insurance company. However, there are some modifications that must be done before the vehicle is street legal. This is usually done by the city before the car is sold, but make sure that all the decals and lights are removed before driving the car. Hope this helps
  6. Yes they're insured but it must cost plenty, eh? bettyk
