can i use a front wheel drive car to build my go kart?

i would like it to be rear wheel drive, is this possible? cant seem to find any really cheap rear wheel drive cars

1. I thought about doing that when I had a Tercel. The throttle and transmission are both cable operated and the brakes can be set up however you want. You might have to get longer cables but I'd sure think you could.
2. Wouldn`t you be better of using a motorbike engine. Much lighter and faster than a car engine.There was a go cart on you tube with a hayabusa engine but that was just incredibly fast and uncontrollable but such fun.
3. You can use the engine, subframe, wheels etc from a mini or a metro. Its a self contained unit that just drops out.
