Best Cars to Insure

Is it safe to drive my car if the ac pulley is rattling/buzzing/sqealing?

Its a 1999 buick park avenue and it just started to make a slight rattling noise under the hood.(next to the pulleys its coming from the one on the bottom closest to the front of the car) i was told it sounded like the a/c pulley is it safe to keep driving? and how much would it be to replace? The air is still cold or atleast was cold yesterday. and the car has 80k miles on it

  1. only if you like the idea of the pulley going thru the radiator.
  2. no
  3. means its bad and about to come off... when it does and your driving it you dont know what it might hit but it will casue more damage costing more money..... why not open the hood and look first might be able to see it bad or shake it with your hand.... if not crank it and listen you might be able to loctae it and then ca;ll any shop and ask for a price to repair
  4. If the pulley seizes then most likely it will cause the belt to break which can cause the car to overheat, lose power steering, and stop charging. To repair the problem you may be able to just replace the clutch with a new bearing if the shaft is not damaged, probably between 2 and 3 hours labor at the repair shop of your choice.
