Best Cars to Insure

Ran over a boulder in my car...safe to drive on highway?

I was making a turn past a construction site and there were about 3 cars in front of me. Everyone made wide turns except for the guy in front of me. He started to make a sharp turn (while I was making a wide one) but I guess he realized there was a boulder in the street. He dodges it quickly but his back tire hit it and it rolled into my path. (too late for me to stop) I run over it (not with the tires, it went right under the car) it's so big that it lifts my car up from the ground. I had to keep driving but the next time I pressed the gas it made this noise like dropping a spring. I was too scared to get on the highway after that so I just took the back roads. It didn't give me any problems or make any more noises after that. It's only a 4 month old car, so I'm still under warranty if anything is wrong; what should I do?

  1. Get it checked. Seems you didn't do a lot of damage, but you need to be sure.
  2. if it is still under warranty then take it in and get it looked at and make sure that there is no damage because if there is and ur driving on it it could make it worst.
  3. First look underneath to see if there is any obvious damage. You should see the path the rock took by the fresh scrapes. If there is ANY leakage under the car DO NOT DRIVE IT. But I would take it to a shop to verify if there was any damage. It may not be covered under warranty, instead use your comp. insurance. There are several other problems that could arise. For example, out of alignment or a torn CV boot or damage to the oil pan or transmission pan where it will contact the internals inside.
  4. get to a garage soon it could have weakened a brake pipe or damaged the petrol tank if it was big enough to lift your car off the ground it would actually be a miracle if nothing has been damaged dont take any chances , better to be safe all the best Ian
  5. have it looked at
  6. Take your car back to the dealer where you bought it. If your dealer says there is damage, notify your insurance company exactly how the incident happened, where, when, and how. They may be able to help you with repair expenses depending on the extent of the damage to your new car.
  7. There is no way anyone, here can answer your question. The car needs to be checked. Any impact that was strong enough to LIFT your car is strong enough to do some serious damage. You don't know if something cracked, and is ready to come apart at any moment. Regarding warranty, any damage caused by road debris will NOT be covered under the warranty. Your insurance MIGHT. In any case, have the care checke out by a REAL mechanic, to be sure if the car is safe. Even driving on back roads can be risky if, say, a brake line was severed.
  8. Take the car to your dealer and have the mechanics check ou the under side. An exhaust pipe could be damaged. Check the tranny, fuel tank etc. Don't just let it go away with out an inspection.
