I am renting a car for state driving. Which car is safer to drive in snow conditions - truck or sedan?

- The truck is more susceptible to sliding, unless it's 4 wheel drive and you know what you're doing. The car will get better mileage. A front wheel drive 4 door sedan usually has the best center of gravity - a good thing when in snow or on ice. Good Luck
- Trucks are very light in the rear and tend to skid easily. A sedan is much safer to drive in snow.
- I would say the car is overall better. In either case 99% is with the driver skills
- I you can get a AWD sedan, that would be the best. If both the sedan and truck come with 2WD, I'd still go with the sedan. A car is naturally better balanced than a truck but, I would Go for the truck if its the only one with 4WD.
- It is the driver and their experience that makes the difference. I go up hills on packed snow in my rear wheel drive, that 4 wheel drive trucks and SUVs had trouble with.
- Always go with a sedan for better traction and control.
- Trucks are only good for getting out of deep snow situations (Parking spots). But for actual driving on highways and most city street, you will have better control with a sedan.
