Is it safe to drive a car with the exhaust emission light on?

- as long as no exhaust gas leaks it will be fine..its only a corroded faulty sensor..
- its safe but not wise, your engine management has registered a fault. get your local garage to do a diagnostic check to either put the light out or fix the fault
- i don't know about safety but i'll will tell you about how much it is going to cost you if you take it to the dealer..but let me tell you this first if your car is brand new the emission light will came on automaticaly very 10,000 miles if you read you car's manual you can take the ligth out by just presing a couple of bottons you can do this up until 30,000 miles after that you have to take it to the dealer.... they want your $$..they have to take the light out...that will run around $250 just to change a sensor that cost about $60 and they charge you about $160 for labor so if someone you know can change the sensor you will seve your self some money that is all there is to it....i my self didn't have the time so i had to pay the price..good luck....
- If the car drives and runs fine, don't worry about it.
- It is safe, but you should get it looked at right away. Most of the time it is an oxygen sensor, so goto your local auto strore and they will scan your computer for free and tell you what you need to replace. Fix your car the right way. If you drive with the check engine light on for a long time you can damage your catalytic converter.... been there done that.....
- it is ok but for only a day or so the lamda senser has gone so the ecu is not sure how much fuel to put in the engine this will bugger the cat up!
- You are in danger of damaging you catalyser.Get it checked out.
