What is the best way to insure a car for using during university holidays only?

I am soon to start university in September, so will not be needing my car during term time. I am looking for some kind of insurance policy that will cater for me only using my car during winter, easter and summer holidays but have yet to find any viable options. Short term car insurance only provides cover for over 21s (that I can find) whereas I am 19, and pay as you drive policies that I have looked into seem to cost around 1000 pounds a year - and I am only paying 500 for a full years cover at the moment. Anyone have any ideas?
